The Plight of the Flight Attendants
The profession of Flight Attendants was once considered glamorous and was very sought after. However, now it is one of the toughest jobs in the airline industry. Once their job description focused on providing "whatever the passenger wanted". "Now it's all about telling them what they can and can't do." After nine eleven, the security threats, and warnings that other plots may be in the works, have given many flight attendants a new fear of flying. Stress aside, however, many do not want to give up a job that has taken them to all parts of the globe, the primary reason most flight attendants sign on in the first place. It certainly is not the pay, which ranges from less than $20,000 a year for a beginning Flight Attendants to $40,000 a year and up for a veterans Flight Attendant. Pay varies by routes flown and by the health of the airline and carriers. Recently, Flight Attendants' pay and benefits have been cut at many airlines. Not only is pay and benefits under assault but pension have been cut or in many cases totally eliminated.
The changes in the airline industry have caused a dilemma for the Pilots and especially for the Flight Attendants. The changes have forced Flight Attendants to work much longer before contemplating retirement. They will work far beyond the age of their predecessors before they can consider retirement and even then they, in most cases they will not have a pension to depend on. If you have flown in the past year you may have noticed the Flight Attendances are older. Being older is great if they are still working because the just love their job and want to continue working. However, if they are continuing to work because they can't afford to quit and/or retire, that is completely different. It is difficult enough to retire with a 401K and a pension plan, but it is unfortunate that Flight Attendant who worked for less because they had a pension plan, and were depending on it for assistance when they retired, find out one day that the pension is just gone with the swipe of a pen. A will not be available for their retirement. They don't have a pension to depend on any longer and they really don't make enough money to invest substantially in their own plan.
The best way for the Flight Attendants to secure their future is to start a Home Based Business. A Home Based Business will give them the freedom to retire earlier or on time and with more monthly income. A Home Based Business will also give them more money to invest for their retirement. They will be able to successfully work a Home Based Business because of their flexible schedules. A Home Based Business will also provide more time to do what they want, need and enjoy doing. A Home Based Business will allow them to pay off their debt and increase their saving which will help them prepare to retire. A Home Based Business will also provide great tax advantages.
Certain Home Based Businesses would be perfect for Flight Attendance because of their background. A Home based business could provide an extra $1,000 per month. However, some Home Based Businesses can provide enough money to retire in as few as 3 to 5 years. In addition the retirement income could range up to $30,000 to $50,000 per month. A Home Based Business is certainly something a Flight Attendant should look into. It will not be the solution for everyone but it could be a viable solution for those who are serious about early or on time retirement, or those who want to live comfortably after retirement. The decision to look at a Home Based Business could be the important decision a Flight Attendant ever makes.
